A reliable source has informed us that a new location in St. Paul for bar poker will replace the soon-to-be closed Erick’s Bar. With much development occurring along East Seventh Street the owner of Erick’s Bar took a buyout offer. Poker is slated to end there on September 24th. Our source confirms that talks have been initiated with and that a move will occur to Mounds Park Lounge located at 1067 Hudson Rd in St. Paul.
It was also confirmed that Mounds Park will run multiple times per week to “at least try it out”. Less concrete was whether Erick’s play – Tuesday and Saturday with the Free Poker Network (FPN) and Sunday with the Straight Flush Poker Tour (SFPT) – would move lock, stock and barrel over to Mounds Park Lounge or if the nights/leagues would switch up in some way.
SFPT’s Facebook site noted late this morning that “Big news coming as early as this afternoon!”
We’ll keep you posted here at CPL Poker Podcast.
UPDATE: 10 PM, 09/05 – the big news from SFPT appears to be that they are hooking up with Running Aces Card Room on RA’s “MN Bar Poker Championships”. The season for that will run from October 1 thru Dec 31. Top Prizes for the promotion will be entries into RA’s $500 “Big Stack Avalanche” which will occur around mid-January. NO news yet on the move over Mounds Park Lounge.
UPDATE: 1 AM 09/07 – we have word that SFPT will move their Sunday game from Erick’s Bar to the Mounds Park Lounge. And, apparently FPN went in to make a pitch but was not all that favorably received. More as we learn of it.
