Saturday saw the Twin Cities Regionals for the Free Poker Network (FPN) taking place at Erick’s Bar in St. Paul. The top 11 finishers would advance to the FPN State Championships on the 27th.
Karaoke Phil was there. It was a little nip and tuck for Karaoke to make it. He neither won Erick’s outright nor even qualified for Regions in season 1 (October to December). January brought more of the same – leaving two more months to qualify. Phil finished 9th in February and won Erick’s in March to gain a double stack (4000 chips) for the regional playoffs.
Only 44 of 69 qualifiers showed to play meaning the top 25% would advance to state. Karaoke broke 10K in chips with about 2 dozen left. He then hovered between 9K and 12.5K while player after player dropped.
Ultimately, he finished in 8th place. It qualified him for his 10th straight state championship where he’ll be playing for his 3rd straight national championship. Look for more info here!
