The MN State Poker Tour kicked off last December with an inaugural event at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, but the “Tour” actually started this weekend at Grand Casino Mille Lacs with Event 1 of Season 1.
All told there were 124 runners in the Main Event, including our MN Poker Mag comrades and tour co-founders, Bryan Mileski and Phil Mackey. Mileski went out around 35th, but PMAC limped his way through the tournament to a 15th place – $2K finish.
The winner, however, was Jeremy Dresch – a fellow who has been crushing live tourney poker in the Upper Midwest for the last 5 or so months. Dresch won back-to-back Heartland Poker Tour events late last year (one in MN – the other in IA) and finished 5th in the Main Event of the Fall Poker Classic. He entered the final table with a 3 to 1 lead over the second place chip leader and rode that all the way to a $36,000+ payday and a new gold/diamond bracelet.
It was also good to see two women (Bev Paulson – finishing 3rd and Jody Cluever – 10th) making the final table.
At least 2 lucky CPL players will be given a satellite shot into the next MN State Poker Tour Main Event this April at Running Aces as part of our league Tournament of Champions winnings. Look for more news on that as we approach it.
